Product Description
- Watering: Water newly planted camellias regularly and water them during the summer when they produce flowers; check the soil about 4 inches down with a trowel to see if it is dry, and avoid prolonged watering with tap water if you have hard water.
- Feeding: Feed camellias in early spring with an ericaceous fertilizer, and do not feed them after the end of July as this can cause bud drop.
- Sunlight: Camellias prefer morning sun and dappled shade in the afternoon, and as they mature they can tolerate more sun.
- Soil: Camellias grow best in well-drained, slightly acidic soil with a pH of 5.5 to 6.5, and they dislike lime.
- Planting: Space camellias at least five feet apart so they do not compete for water and nutrients, and plant them at the same depth they were in their nursery container.
- Pruning: Prune camellias to remove dead or damaged growth, keeping the plant healthy and well-shaped.
